This past weekend I was asked if I would be willing to have a feature article all about me in my sorority alumni newsletter. I was very honored since I am pretty involved in the alumni chapter. Then I started thinking about what I would write about myself that would even be a little bit intriguing to the readers. I have a job (...well 2 jobs), I just bought a new car (who cares!), I like to go out with my friends (doesn't everyone?), I have a great family and dogs.... so I started realizing that the one thing that I am missing in my life is helping out other people.
Then something just clicked.
Now I know you must be thinking that I am doing all of this to make myself "look" better to my readers of that alumni newsletter, but in reality I am doing it because something was missing in my life. I spend all of this time going to work (to make $$), going to my second job (to build my resume and gain experience), shopping, going to the lake and hanging out with my family/friends for my own selfish reasons. I have always been interested in getting involved with different philanthropic organizations and donating my $10 when asked. But to me this is different than just donating and raising money. --- It is time for me to give back.
I grew up in an amazing family who has always been there for me, my dreams and anything that I ever needed. I am so excited to start my journey helping out a child who may not have that chance in their life. I am not exactly sure what type of background the girl will be from or what she is trying to get out of this experience - but I am so excited to take this journey! Might even learn something about myself!
So feel free to "Follow" me on the right hand side of ths screen and check back to see my progress. I will try to update after everything!
